Nintendo promises Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing will be heading to smartphones.
In a tweet Nintendo has got fans salivating at the thought of triple A titles coming to smartphones. The titles in question are Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. No further details were revealed about the two titles, nor release dates or whether the games will be fully fledged developed games (please not another social media game).

Nintendo released their first mobile game, Miitomo, in late March this year. It wasn’t the “proper” game expected from Nintendo, Miitomo is more of a social media game ran by Nintendo’s Mii avatars. Granted the game is an acquired taste, but that didn’t stop the game from being downloaded 10 million times.
While Miitomo has some impressive figures; Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing can do so much better. Both titles are very much suited for mobile devices as they don’t require constant attention on screen, like a main series Mario game for instance.
Fire Emblem is a turn-based, tactical fantasy game that was hesitantly released in the west, making it’s western debut only in 2004. The series began in 1990, released only in Japan. Recent Fire Emblem title, Fire Emblem Fates, saw excellent reviews on Metacritic.
Animal Crossing is more of a life simulator, with inspiration from The Sims. You’re tasked with paying off a mortgage and be a part of a happy community of animals. It’s more fun than it sounds, really. Animal Crossing: New Leaf saw excellent reviews as well on Metacritic.
Nintendo are known for developing stellar triple A titles that rarely disappoint fans. According to The Wall Street Journal, we can expect both titles in Autumn. Nintendo confirm they are still on track to release four new smartphone games by March next year. So we should be seeing more surprise announcements!
