LG rumoured to be designing new smaller Google Nexus

Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii, who has a good track record of predicting potential leaks, has suggested a possible smaller version of the impending Nexus 6 handset could be around the corner.

The phone will apparently be produced by LG and will feature a more comfortable 5.2-inch screen, which is a nice change from the growing trend of larger phones. This will compliment the release of the larger 6-inch device, which will most likely be produced by Huawei, as suggested by Chinese analyst Kevin Yang.

It would mark the first time that Google has released two Nexus smartphones within the same year, suggesting a complete refresh to the entire Nexus line. The last time that the Nexus 5 got updated was way back in 2013, which when you consider a typical yearly update cycle is long overdue.

The Nexus 6 sold well but never did quite match the smaller Nexus, which is the preferred choice for many Android users who don’t want a phablet.
