MWC: HTC One picks up best in show

HTC’s new flagship the HTC One has picked up best new mobile handset, device or tablet at the GSMA Mobile Awards in Barcelona.

The last prize to be announced at the Mobile World Congress awards, the award recognised the best mobile device launched in 2013 at MWC.

The HTC One was officially launched just prior to MWC on February 19th and What Mobile’s First Look is here.

HTC chief marketing officer Benjamin Ho said the device had been years in the making.

“We believe that the HTC One will really change the way that people use their phones, revolutionising the overall mobile experience.”

Other winners

Other winners at the awards included Samsung, which won best manufacturer and best smartphone for its Galaxy S3, as well as several other awards.

Nokia’s Asha 305 picked up best feature or entry level phone and Google and Asus picked up best tablet for the Nexus 7.
