Moto G Google Play Edition announced

Google and Motorola have announced a Moto G Google Play edition for sale on the former’s online store.

The more Moto G the merrier, but this is still a slightly strange announcement. The benefits of a Google Play edition of a phone include faster Android updates and a stock interface for the device. Seeing as it’s owned by Google, Motorola’s Moto G and Moto X (confirmed for a European launch yesterday) already do both of those things.

There are some minimal differences for the Moto G Google Play Edition, though. First up, it’s rid of the extra apps that Motorola included on its homemade device, not that there were many of those. It will also update perhaps a little faster along with other Google Play Edition phones.

And that’s about that. Elsewhere it’s still the same great budget phone.
