The Lumia 950 and 950 XL have been confirmed today at Microsoft’s event.
The Lumia phones will sport liquid cooling, which has never been done before on a smartphone. They will also support Snapdragon 808 hexa-core and 810 octa-core respectively. With liquid cooling, the persistent heat problem with Snapdragon 810 will hopefully be a thing of the past. Displays are 5.2 and 5.7 inches respectively, OLED screens. As for storage they will have 32Gb on internal memory which can be upgraded with a microSD, up to 200GB.
Size of the battery has not been confirmed but Microsoft has boasted long battery life (with fast charging), 30 mins of charging will apparently give you over 50% charge. The Lumia 950 and XL will support USB Type-C. Camera is 20 megapixels with 5th generation optical image stabilisation, natural triple RGB LED flash and a dedicated camera button.
The Lumias will support Microsoft Hello, which enables users to unlock their phones with their face and voice. There is also support for a new feature called Continuum for Windows 10 Mobile. Which basically turns your phone into a PC. Yes you heard that right. It will enable your phone to support a keyboard and mouse via bluetooth. Microsoft Display Dock is required to plug into an external monitor.
The Lumia 950 will retail at $549 and the XL at $649, with a release date to be confirmed. UK prices to be confirmed.
