LG is planning to bring powerful smartphones to market before Christmas that use NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processor with support for full-HD video and 3D gaming.

The Tegra 2 processor has a number of ‘firsts’ for mobile. It’s the first mobile dual-core CPU, the only low-power GeForce GPU (graphics) and the first 1080p HD mobile video processor. LG claims that with two speedy 1GHz processors, consumers can expect to get 2x faster web browsing and up to 5x faster gaming performance.

Chang Ma, Vice President of Marketing Strategy Team, LG Mobile said: “LG is committed to making its Optimus Series smart devices the de facto standard in speed and graphics performance,

“We selected NVIDIA because it is the visual computing leader and has a long history of creating amazing consumer experiences.”

LG Optimus Series smartphones featuring the new mobile processor are planned for release in Q4.
