LG Optimus G Pro set for South Korean launch – now when’s that UK release?

After leaks and rumours, LG have confirmed the Optimus G Pro’s release.

Going from its Facebook page and blog, the device will feature a 5.5 inch HD display and looks like it was revealed through the accumulation of ‘Likes’, with more ‘Likes’ removing coloured balls covering the announcement and handset.

At least it wasn’t pokes, amirite?

On Tuesday a press release confirmed the phone would run 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB memory, 13 MP rear camera, 2 MP front camera and a 3140mAh battery, Techradar reported.

A release from the LG Korean newsroom said the display would have “curled, curved glass” or “2.5D glass”, whatever the heck that is.   The release also says a “mysterious three-dimensional pattern on the rear”, although this could just be a very poor Google translation.

The handset was set to launch at the end of February, the release said.

A slightly different version was recently confirmed for Japan by carrier NTT DoCoMo, with a release in April, Endgadget reported.

The handset is confirmed for South Korea, Slashgear reported.

No word as yet on a UK release from local LG but the handset may see its European debut at the Mobile World Congress, various media are reporting.
