The OnePlus 2 is likely to officially become the first USB Type-C standard phone when it’s released in the next couple of months. This feature has already appeared on the latest MacBook and Chromebook Pixel, whilst Google has confirmed that the next version of Android will support it.

The new USB standard means the 2 will charge faster than devices with older USB standards and it will transfer data faster as well. The OnePlus 2 will also be able to handle more and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, like outputting your phone screen to separate monitor and charge your device at the same time.

“We want to lead the way in power connectivity,” the company said in a tweet.

It will also be impossible to plug the USB cable in the wrong way.

The 2 will run OxygenOS, OnePlus’ own take on Android Lollipop. It’ll also be equipped with a Snapdragon 810 processor. The 810 has been notorious for overheating problems in the past, but OnePlus claims it has solved these problems. We’ll find out more when the phone is officially unveiled in the next few months.
