iPhone and Android may get access to Nokia Music

One of the best things about buying a Nokia Lumia smartphone is access to one of the best music streaming services out there – Nokia Music. The goal of Nokia Music isn’t to take aim at Spotify or Rdio, but it’s aimed squarely at the likes of iTunes Radio or Pandora. The best thing about getting it on a Lumia is you gain access for absolutely nothing, giving you up to four playlists, dubbed mixes, for offline play and up to six skips every hour.

The company has been gradually expanding the Nokia Music presence, with the service making its way to Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system – probably for the impending release of the Lumia 2520. Now however it’s rumoured that the service is setting its aim at competitor platforms, with Mac OS X, iOS and Android all on the roadmap. Whilst this hasn’t been confirmed by Nokia, Chinese-language site CTech reportedly has gotten its hands on an image from a Nokia training manual which seems to support the expansion.

It’s likely that the new platforms won’t get the same free access enjoyed by Lumia users, and are far more likely to be forced to cough up the £3.99 for Music+, which gives users unlimited skips and as many playlists for offline listening as you like – meaning you’ll never have to endure the sounds of the tube again.

Of course we’re not going to report this as fact, as the image can easily be faked – but it’s certainly reliable as Nokia will be digging into the gold mine that is the Android and iOS platforms.
