Apple is rumoured to be prepping the release of the iPhone 5S and 5C on September 10, but that doesn’t mean it’s not looking forward, with rumours now starting to crop up that a future iPhone, possibly the iPhone 6, could have a 6-inch screen.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is in the process of testing iPhones with larger screens, in an effort the combat other manufacturers who are all rushing out Phablets to compete with Samsung.

We shouldn’t go expecting the 6-inch iPhone to arrive this year though, with the WSJ citing sources to the contrary.

A 6-inch iPhone 6 would be the biggest change to the iPhone’s screen size since the iPhone 5, where Apple added just half an inch to bring it up to the current 4-inch size.

The report doesn’t just stop at 6 inches though, with Apple testing a wide variety of screen sizes, including 4.8 inches — which the WSJ reports as the one Apple is most keen on at the moment.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours of a larger iPhone, with Reuters claiming earlier this year that Apple was working on a 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch model.
