The device solves problem of risky washing methods
InvisibleShield has launched a portable UV device that it claims can kill up to 99.99 per cent of bacteria on a smartphone’s surface.
The accessories company, part of the Zagg group of accessories manufacturers, promises a noiseless, harmless experience for users.
Users place their device in the machine, turn it on, and leave it until the process is complete. An indicator lets the user know how much time remains in the process.
The device works with any smartphone up to 6.9 inches tall, and includes a USB-A to USB-C cable for on-the-go use.
The UV cleaner retails on InvisibleShield’s website for £44.99/€49.99.
“We want to help our consumers stay protected against the harmful bacteria they encounter on a daily basis,” said Zagg international managing director Gavin Slevin.
“Phones go everywhere with us, and easily become a source of bacteria and germs. Sanitising your phone can also be cumbersome, requiring cleaning products not always recommended by device manufacturers, and not always covering a phone’s hard-to-reach areas. The InvisibleShield UV Sanitiser was created to help solve this consumer pain point.”
InvisibleShield is hoping to capitalise on advanced awareness of sanitisation due to the ongoing pandemic. Recently, leading microbiologist Dr Simon Clarke partnered with rugged device manufacturer Bullitt Group to highlight the need to practise stricter phone-related hygiene.
Bullitt has also been displaying the durability of its smartphones in being able to withstand a wash in warm, soapy water, thus killing bacteria and viruses on their surfaces.
