Huawei has used CES to showcase its two new top shelf smartphones, the Ascent Mate and Ascend D2.

The Ascend Mate boasts a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 8MP camera, runs Android Jelly Bean and features a whopping 6.1-inch HD display.

Huawei is already claiming that this will make it the smartphone with the world’s largest screen. By way of comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (which is more of a smartphone/tablet hybrid) features a 5.5-inch screen. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch screen and the iPhone 5 a 4-inch screen.

The Chinese firm also claims, thanks to its proprietary power-saving technology, that the Ascend Mate will have the fastest battery charging of any similar smartphone, going from empty to fully charged 30% faster than competitors.

Huawei also used the event to unveils the Ascend D2 which, while smaller, still has a huge five inch screen, a 1.5 GHz quad core processor, and a 13MP camera.

The D2 is available in China later this month with the Mate following in February. No details are currently available about a world-wide release, or pricing.
