Huawei reclaims crown as top OEM

Huawei have recorded high shipment growth, with numbers that have surpassed rival Xiaomi.

Here we have the titans known Apple and Samsung butting heads, over in the land of the rising sun are two dragons clawing at each other for the top spot. It seems that Huawei have won their most recent battle by recording a great quarter. Research company Canalys has reported that Huawei’s shipments have grown 81% year after year, with Xiaomi’s declining.

Canalys have not specified and figures but its clear who the winner is. Xiaomi have ventured into other markets, producing TVs, electric scooters and other consumer consumer electronics. So it seems natural for Huawei to capitalise and jump ahead of the queue.

Next quarter could be different with Xiaomi bringing out the Xiami Mi 5, which is rumoured to have Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 820 processor.
