Some HTC One M9 owners have reported that the latest software update (1.40.401.8) is causing excruciatingly long charge times.

According to these users, it is taking up to 13 hours to fully charge their handsets. A screenshot in Italian that appeared online shows the HTC One M9 saying “Charging – 13 hours until complete.”

HTC One M9 fix

HTC does know that there is a problem and has been telling owners on its UK Twitter account how to temporarily fix the problem. It says: “Can you please uninstall the Google Photos App. This should be a temporary fix for the charging issue”.

HTC also recommends restarting the device by pressing and holding the Power and Volume Up buttons for 15 to 3o seconds before charging.
