HTC posted its results for the first three months of 2013, with its profit down on the last, and year ago, quarter.

The company’s unaudited consolidated results showed its net income was $NT85 million ( £1.85 million) for January to March.

This compared with $NT1 billion in the quarter before (Q4 2012) and $NT4.47 billion for the same quarter in 2012.

HTC said total revenues were $NT42.8 billion ( £932 million) and net income before tax was $NT103 million ( £2.24 million).

Misses own and analyst expectations

In its outlook from its Q4 2012 results, the company said its revenue was expected to be $NT50 – 60 billion, its results missing this by more than $NT7 billion.

Reuters reported the company had been expected to post a net profit of $T467.5 million according to the average forecast of 18 analysts polled by the organisation.

The full launch of the company’s flagship phone, the HTC One, has been delayed from its initial launch date of March 14th.

Reuters reported this was due to a shortage of cameras,  which meant the company launched the device in three markets by the end of the first quarter of this year, instead of the planned 80.  Sales in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region were not expected to being before the end of April, Reuters said.
