TalkTalk research highlights the importance of internet speeds to Brits
Brits are becoming increasingly reliant on broadband, with half of them choosing reliable broadband over their partners, TalkTalk research has revealed.
The provider’s ‘In-Crowd’ study also found that 70 per cent of Brits would choose reliable broadband over their family pets and that UK residents’ top two guilty pleasures were watching funny animal videos and sending memes to friends.
Other guilty pleasures included watching ‘trashy’ TV shows and catching up on the latest celebrity gossip.
Some of the more unusual habits include 680,000 millennials admitting to having watched pimple popping videos while 30 per cent of 18-34-year-olds spends time stalking their partner or ex on social media.
The report also said that two in five would rather stay in to binge-stream TV than go to the pub while 63 per cent of 18-34-year-olds would rather stay at home and game than go on a night out.
The report highlights the importance of reliable broadband with 68 per cent of Brits saying they feel angry or anxious when their internet doesn’t work. Half of those surveyed said that their broadband makes them feel more connected to friends and family.
TalkTalk’s chief customer officer Nick Gunga said: “Family life is made easier by the reliability of their broadband. So many of the activities we love to do at home revolve around the internet, so we need it to keep up with us.”
