Grand Theft Auto 5 has officially been hailed as the biggest game of 2013 after shipping 32.5 million units.
Although it was probably a no-brainer for gamers, Take Two (parent company of GTA 5 developer Rockstar) confirmed the news in its financial earnings release yesterday.
The game’s spectacular debut – which saw it gross $1 billion dollars in a day – was a result of worldwide critical acclaim and eager anticipation from fans, many of whom queued up at midnight on the launch date to get their hands on a copy.
“Grand Theft Auto V finished as the best-selling video game of 2013” according to the release, which verified the claim through consumer market research group NPD.
PC gamers should also be happy to note that rumours are currently circulating that GTA 5 could potentially be released on the platform in Spring/Summer of this year.
Take Two, however, has been reluctant to confirm the rumours. If that is the case, then it looks like the title’s stellar figures will continue to grow.
