Google Street View now offers on-pitch virtual tours of Brazil’s World Cup stadiums

Have you ever dreamed of playing for your country’s national football team? Of course you have. How about at a World Cup? A World Cup  in Brazil?  That’s the ultimate right?

Well…this probably isn’t the next best thing. Sorry. Nothing can come close. But this is still pretty neat: You can now take a pitchside tour of the twelve stadiums (or stadia if you’re fancy) to be used this month and next at the 2014 World Cup, courtesy of a superb update to Google Street View.

Simply follow this link  and you can take your pick, from the world-famous Estadio do Maracana (which will host the final) to the Arena de Sao Paulo, former home to legends such as Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and Socrates.

Google shows you their location within Brazil (it’s a big old place) so you might learn a thing or too, before teleporting you down on to the pitch. You can roam around the centre-circle for that authentic kickoff feeling, as well as roam along the sidelines. Perhaps you could imagine you’ve just been sent off and are walking to the tunnel.

It offers a full 360-degree view as well, so you can take in just how much work went into these enormous stadiums. If anything it’s reassuring to see that they’re all ready, what with the opening ceremony less than a fortnight away.
