Google has extended the refund window for apps downloaded from its Play Store to two hours.
Previously the refund timeframe was a mere 15 minutes. As a result, you now have a lot longer to demo an app or game before you decide to return it and claim a refund.
Google confirmed the changes on its support page, where it lists what consumers need to do in order to get a refund.
Simply put, to get a refund for an app or game just log in to the Google play Store and head to ‘My Apps’. Once there you will see a list of the apps and games in your possession. Choose the app you wish to return – if you do this within the two-hour timeframe you will see a ‘Refund’ option. If you are late, however, the only option available will be uninstall.
Be warned that not all developers offer a refund for their respective apps and any app or game downloaded more than once cannot be returned.
Google had previously been unofficially offering paid refunds within the two-hour window but now the changes are official and, most likely, permanent.
