Samsung isn’t happy to merely release impressive new smartphones and tablets, it has to launch with plenty of ‘world’s firsts’ to grab the headlines. First it gave its 10-inch tablet an overhaul to slim it down to beat the iPad 2, and now it has boosted the speed of the Galaxy S II.
The improved Galaxy S II will ship in the UK on May 1st.
With an increase from 1GHz to 1.2GHz, the dual-core Galaxy S II is now one of the fastest smartphones on the market, as well as the slimmest (8.5mm) and lightest (116g).
It has a 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen and 1080P HD recording and playback, as well as the very latest TouchWiz user interface (V4).
The phone will therefore be a strong competitor to the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, with its larger capacity battery (1,650 mAh) and faster, dual-core, processor – but not the Sony Exmor R camera sensor that offers better low-light performance.
