Galaxy Grand 2 coming from Samsung, does it earn that name?

Samsung has announced yet another new handset today, in the form of the Galaxy Grand 2.

This latest device is a 5.25-inch phone, which puts it in line with the Note range. But there are a few things that separate it from the company’s flagship phablet. The hardware has been scaled back a bit, with 8GB of storage space and room for a further 64GB on microSD. Then there’s the quad-core 1.2GHz processor. What it doesn’t have is a stylus, which is an essential part of the Note 3. An 8-megapixel rear-facing camera is also present.

It’s a dual-SIM phone running Android 4.3. Keep in mind that Samsung has been tight-lipped on when its handsets will be getting that 4.4 update, so this could be upgraded in the near future.

The display runs at 720p, which is an undeniable improvements over the 800 x 480 screen in the original. As for colours, there’s a white, black and pink variations.

We’re not sure the Galaxy Grand 2 earns its subheading then – you’d think it would get better with that kind of name but hey! No word on when or if this thing will be launching in the UK or other regions but we’d hope for a reduced price from the Note range if it does.
