Galaxy Camera could become a phone, launch as Galaxy S4 ZOOM

Samsung could soon put the tech behind its smartphones into the Galaxy Camera, making it some sort of phone-camera hybrid, or a camera phone if you will.

According to Sammobile, the Galaxy S4 Zoom will feature the same 16-megapixel sensor as the Galaxy Camera, and be launched this summer.

If we could hazard a guess, we would say if this is real, then it’s likely to be unveiled at Samsung’s Galaxy & Ativ event later this month, where we may also see a Galaxy Note III — but as no sources have been cited, we urge you to take the news with a pinch of salt.

It’s rumoured the device will launch in both black and white, and feature a downgraded 4.3-inch touchscreen — much like the Galaxy S4 mini. There will also be 8GB of storage, which is said to be expandable to 64GB through the use of a microSD card.

We’re looking on this with intrigue, given the rumoured Nokia Lumia EOS, which is set to take smartphone cameras to the next level — could Samsung beat Nokia to the punch?
