LG have finally released their successor to 2013’s G Pro, the inventively-titled LG G Pro 2.
The colossal phablet boasts bigger figures in just about every department. The 5.9 inch display is sure to be as divisive as ever, but phablet fans will no doubt love it – particularly when they take a butcher’s at it’s stunning 1920 x 1080 full HD display. Its processor is a 2.26 GHz quad-core with 3GB of RAM and it comes ready with either 16 or 32 GB of storage (of course expandable via microSD).
For those keeping track, versus the original G Pro that’s an extra half an inch in screen size and one more gigabyte of RAM.
The rear camera is 13 megapixel once again, but this time boasts some fantastic new features. First of all is the capacity for 4k video capture – a big plus as we move into the next generation of HD. It is also capable of 120 fps capture, resulting in optional half or quarter-speed playback.
Perhaps most impressively (as it’s a feature you’ll probably use on a regular basis) is a new feature called ‘Magic Focus’. This allows for the choice of depth of focus after a photo has already been taken.
System software has seen innovation in other departments, too. LG’s ‘Knock On’ feature is present and correct, allowing for the user to unlock their device by tapping a rhythm on the screen. It’s a great feature that we’ve already got to play around with on the LG G Flex, and makes a nice change from having to press a physical button like some sort of Philistine.
It almost goes without saying at this point that the phone is 4G ready, and comes running Android 4.4 KitKat straight out of the box.
The one downside is that as yet the phone is only available in Korea, with no date announced for the West as yet. Sorry for getting your hopes up. Be sure to check back to What Mobile for updates as we get them.
