Those of us who are using an iPhone 6 Plus will be gutted to know that the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy edition doesn’t work with screen sizes over 6 inches. Commence disappointment now.
Bethesda’s ultra limited Fallout 4 Pip-Boy edition will not work with devices over 6 inches in size, due to the company’s insistence on keeping the wearable faithful to it’s in-game counterpart. Bethesda has said that it will include inserts for the iPhone 4 and 4s, 5 and 5s and even the 6, but sadly no 6 Plus. There is a custom foam insert that can be made to accommodate other devices but the catch is that they must also be under 6 inches in size. Sadly those who have the larger Apple device will unfortunately need use their imagination or buy a smaller phone.
The Pip-Boy edition is a faithful recreation of the wearable device that your character uses throughout his journey in the Fallout universe. Using the Android and iOS applications, it’s possible to track stats and use it as an additional menu screen with the accompanying Fallout 4 game. There’s nothing particularity technological about the wearable, as it is basically a glorified writsband with space for a smartphone. Still, if you’re a die-hard gaming fan like myself, just the mere thought of having something that even slightly resembles a Pip-Boy device will make you fuzzy inside. Unless you have an iPhone 6 Plus.
Fallout 4 is due for release November 10th.
