E3 2015 is exploding with huge blockbuster PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U titles. The world’s largest gaming trade event is also showcasing many handheld and mobile games. Just because they’re smaller than their home console counterparts doesn’t make them any less thrilling. Some of these titles are established franchises. Others are totally brand new. Here are the five we’re most excited about.

E3 2015: Fallout Shelter

Platform: iOS

Fallout Shelter

Think you’d be able to lead mankind after a nuclear disaster? Now you can prove it. Set in the post-apocalyptic world of the Fallout series, Fallout Shelter will be familiar if you’ve played SimCity, FTL or XCOM. You oversee your own underground vault and its inhabitants. Each resident can level up and they have their own items, outfits and weapons, which they use when you send them off into the wild and dangerous wasteland. You’ll also have to carefully balance resources, food, water and power to ensure your underground vault doesn’t wither away like the rest of Fallout’s fictional world.

E3 2015: I Am Bread

Platform: iOS

I Am Bread

I Am Bread has players control a piece of bread attempting to toast itself. Yes, you read that correctly. This is actually a game. It’s much more difficult than it sounds, however. The bread isn’t the most mobile carb product. Players must flip their slice of bread through various difficult obstacles to finally make it into the toaster.

E3 2015: Journey

Platform: PS Vita

Journey

Back when it was released on the PlayStation 3 in 2012, Journey received critical acclaim for being one of the most beautiful games ever made. it combined a unique art style, beautiful music and innovative gameplay to portray a lost world and a traveller exploring it. Since its release, Journey has won five awards at the 2013 British Academy of Film and Television Awards. A definite must play.

E3 2015: Super Meat Boy

Platform: PS Vita

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is an insanely hard platformer that really tests your reaction speeds. In it you control Meat Boy and must save your girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the evil scientist Dr. Fetus. Each level is an obstacle course filled with blades, spikes and other difficult traps. You must navigate these quickly and without error. You will fail many times, but your reflexes will improve and you’ll be able to smash through levels you previously thought were impossible to beat.

E3 2015: Elder Scrolls Legends

Platform: iPad

The Elder Scrolls Legends

The Elder Scrolls studio Bethesda look to be capitalising on Hearthstone’s success with their very own strategy card game.
