ChargedUp, Europe’s first and largest network of mobile power-bank rental stations powered by green energy, has today announced £2m investment by M-Venture, the investment unit of Jägermeister, follow on funding by JamJar Investments and also backed by some of the UK’s largest influencers including Caspar Lee as part of Creative Investment Club.
The £2 million investment in ChargedUp helps fuel growth in venues across the UK and will support their German and European expansion. Funds will also allow ChargedUp to
expand their product range and to assist the service to provide an enhanced user experience.
The startup, founded in April 2017, has created a service that allows users to rent power banks by scanning a QR code through the ChargedUp app, so no one ever has to run out of battery again. ChargedUp also works with award-winning green energy supplier, Octopus Energy, who match all the power used through the network worldwide with renewable energy directly into the grid.
Since the app launch in August 2018, ChargedUp has grown to over 1500 charging stations across the UK and Netherlands with approx 250,000 app downloads, providing users with 1 hour of charge from just £1. ChargedUp has grown quickly through partnerships with major retailers and pub operators such as M&S, Stonegate and Brewdog.
Hugo Tilmouth, CEO of ChargedUp said “We’re thrilled to be working with a partner like M-Venture as their investment will help us to super charge our growth in the late night sector and ensure more people across Europe won’t get caught out when their phone battery is low.”
Christoph Goeken, MD of M-Venture said “The mission of Jägermeister is to create more and better “Best Nights of your Life” and ChargedUp´s offering is also built around powering (Best) Nights out: Together we want to help consumers to focus on having fun instead of worrying about empty phone batteries.”
