For most of us, a Candy Crush addiction has only ever damaged our overall productivity or social lives. But one 29-year-old Virginian man played the game so much that he managed to receive an injury.
A recent study published by JAMA, a medical journal, revealed that the 29-year-old suffered chronic pain in his left thumb by playing Candy Crush Saga everyday for six to eight weeks.
His regular Candy Crush habit had ruptured a tendon and he needed surgery to repair the injury. The man’s real name wasn’t included on the report.

Unlike most people, the man didn’t have an addiction to Candy Crush. The game was used to pass time between job and he hadn’t felt any pain whilst playing.
Dr Andrew Doan, one of the study’s co-authors, said: “We need to be aware that certain video games can act like digital painkillers. We have to be very cognizant that that can be abused.”
