Calls to 0800 numbers from your mobile are now free

Good news for smartphone users. Calls to 0800 and 0808 numbers are now completely free. Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, is behind the move to make calls to these numbers completely free.

Charges will still be applied to numbers starting with 084, 087, 118 or 09, but the costs will be made more obvious and the cost per minute will be stated when you call. The network provider’s access charge will also be stated, which will help you avoid any nasty surprises when you get your phone bill.
