BT has drastically cut the cost of calling mobiles from landlines, making them up to 50% cheaper than cross-network mobile calls on prepay handsets. BT’s Mobile Saver rate has dropped to a flat rate of 7.5p a minute for calls to mobiles, making it up to 40% cheaper than BT’s other rates for daytime calls. “In the credit crunch everyone is looking for ways to save money,” said BT Consumer managing director John Petter. “One of the easiest ways is to make calls to mobiles with your landline instead of your mobile. “BT is supporting the European Union’s efforts to make calling a mobile cheaper by cutting the excessive termination rates that mobile companies impose for using their networks. In the meantime, we have brought down the daytime rates for Mobile Saver to offer some comfort to customers looking to tighten their belts.”
