The Bluboo D1 is the latest addition to their growing smartphone range… and now you can watch it get used as a chopping board.
We’re always interested to see a good clickbait video here at What Mobile, and what better than a smartphone getting used to chop fruit? Bluboo is a fairly new company out of Hong Kong, first established in 2006. If you haven’t heard of them, you’re not alone, as they seem to be busy kicking up a marketing presence out here in the west. Today we received a new video demonstrating the power of Blueboo’s new ‘explosion-proof membrane’, which ships on the D1 handset. This liquid screen protector looks awfully similar to what Crystalusion have here in the UK, right down to using a couple of wipes for application.
In the video, which was published by Bluboo themselves, we can see somebody applying this solution before putting a screen protector over the top. Even for the average user, that’s a lot of protection… Nevertheless, the device goes on to withstand multiple chopping tests before getting used to crack nuts. It’s a bit gimmicky but definitely catches your attention. In fact, their marketing strategy does not seem that different to what UMi has been doing.
The Bluboo D1 is the company’s latest handset, costing just $79.99 on GearBest. For this you’re getting a metal unibody device which features dual cameras, fingerprint sensor and a HD screen. Pretty crazy hardware considering the price. The screen also has a bit of Samsung flair, with the panel wrapping around the sides in a similar vain to the Galaxy S series. The weak point of the handset is the chipset; you’ll only be getting a MediaTek MT6580 and 2GB RAM. Even so, that should be good for all basic tasks.
