Asus could be could be continuing its assault on the low-end with yet another cost-effective Zenfone device boasting generous hardware specs.

Fresh off the announcement of the Zenfone Selfie, rumours are rife that Asus may be planning to release yet another smartphone device. The handset is thought to be called the ‘Zenfone Go’ and will be a new low-cost smartphone expected sometime this month.

Big specs, small budget

In terms of specifications, it’s expected to feature a 5 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The processor is thought to be a quad-core Mediatek MT6582, a very capable chip for a budget device which is roughly comparable to the Snapdragon 400/410. RAM will be a very generous 2GB and there will be 8GB internal storage. External storage is yet to be confirmed. One disappointing omission is the lack of 4G, as the device is only expected to work on 3G bands.

The camera is well catered for, offering an 8 megapixel sensor that seems to be fast becoming a standard on lower-end devices. The front camera will be an equally generous 2 megapixels, meaning that it is technically capable of 1080p video calling should the software support it.

There’s no word on release date or price as of yet but given Asus’ previous track-record, we would expect it to be another great bargain buy.
