Apple iPhone 5s and 5c could soon make their way to China Mobile

Apple sees China as a huge market for its wares, but it has struggled to get picked up by the world’s largest mobile network, China Mobile. After secret negotiations by Tim Cook and China Mobile executives, it looks like Apple’s iPhone devices are going to be making their way onto the carrier very soon.

TENAA, which is essentially the Chinese FCC, has released documents approving both the iPhone 5s and 5c for use on China Mobile — as they both pack GSM-enabled TD-LTE modems, rather than the CDMA2000 or WCDMA ones provided to China Telecom and China Unicom.

With over 740-million subscribers on China Mobile, this could be a gold mine for Apple to exploit — although there have been concerns that the company hasn’t priced its new iPhone models cheap enough to crack the Chinese market.

TD-LTE isn’t scheduled to roll out in China until later this year, so we will have to wait for that until we start seeing some China Mobile iPhones make their way onto the market.
