The latest addition to the iPhone family has now been announced – the 3G S.

It retains the standard exterior design, but has a range of new features;
- Preloaded with iPhone OS 3.0 (available to existing 2G and 3G iPhone users from June 17th)
- 3-megapixel autofocus camera with tap to focus
- Faster processor
- Support for 7.2Mbps HSDPA (hence the ‘S’ in the product name)
- Switch to swap between camera mode and video – with VGA capture at 30 frames per second
- Voice control – tell the phone what to do, or who to call
- Digital (electronic) compass
- Data encryption & remote data wiping
- Accessibility options (improved contrast mode etc)
- Increased battery life: 9 hours Internet, 10 hours Video playback, 30 hours music playback, 12 hours GSM talktime or 5 hours 3G talktime
- Eco-friendly design and components
- US$199 SRP for 16GB version, US$299 SRP for 32GB version
- Black and white versions
- Low cost option: 8GB version (current model) down to US$99
- New models on sale in USA and UK from June 19th 2009
- New models on sale in other countries from June 26th 2009
