Swings and roundabouts for our friends at Acer. Just 15 days ago it was announced that CEO and Chairman JT Wang was stepping down to be replaced by Jim Wong. Well, turns out that won’t be happening.
Wong has also left the business. In his absence, founder Stan Shih will assume the role of chairman and interim president. He’s coming out of retirement to take on the role, and will go ‘without salary’. That’s commitment. Co-founder George Huang will also take his side in the management team.
Acer is currently facing dire financial straits, having posted huge losses as of late. Will the PC-orientated company survive its current issues?
