Mobile gaming is an industry that only keeps getting bigger. Games act as a perfect companion for those stressful morning commutes or short journeys. However, with the wealth of titles on offer it can be a little daunting to separate the good from the bad.

We’ve got another Top Five for you! Just as we did last week, here’s our rundown of the top five best free mobile games for June 22nd – June 28th:

Dead Among Us (Android and iOS)

Dead Among Us is your classic gallery shooter which puts the player in control of a survivor during a zombie apocalypse. The game is slightly different to others in the genre because your primary weapon is a bow rather than a true firearm. Carefully aim onto the streets below and protect other companions and survivors from hordes of the undead. Controls are fairly simple and the action is fairly laid back, meaning it’s the perfect commuter game for those that want something a little slower paced.

G.I. Joe: Strike (Android and iOS)

If you’ve ever player One Finer Death Punch or Kung Fury, you’ll feel perfectly at home with G.I. Joe: Strike. The game is incredibly simple in its mechanics, with only two controls to remember. Tap the left of the screen to attack enemies on the left side, and vice-versa for the right. That’s it. The skill comes from performing hits at the correct time. Attacking too soon will leave you open for a counter, while attacking too late will leave ripe for a pummelling. It’s the clever balance of simplicity and skill that makes this so addictive, plus it gets pretty damn hectic as the game progresses.

Groove Coaster 2 (Android and iOS)

Groove Coaster is a music-based rhythm game that has enough psychedelic shapes to make it a worthy portable competitor to the popular Rez. The gameplay remains the same as its popular predecessor. Simply tap the neon bubbles in time with the music to advance your wireframe character along the crazy wireframe roller coaster. With over 158 new tracks, there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck into with this one. The developers have also thrown in a fun new arcade mode which adds multitouch support for dual joystick control, much like the equivalent arcade cabinets over in Japan.

My Brother Is A Superhero (iOS only)

My Brother is a Super Hero is a game made to promote a children’s book of the same name. Asteroids are hurtling to Earth and it’s your job to stop them by using coloured orbs which break them into pieces. Larger asteroids only break into two, meaning you’ll need more effort to get rid of them. The game quickly gets out of control, with asteroids flying all over the place before you know it. While there’s no real ‘end’ to the game, you’ll be spending plenty of time trying to beat high scores and eclipse your previous milestone.

Vainglory (Android and iOS)

If you’re familiar with Multiplayer Online Battle Arena’s like League of Legends and DOTA 2, you’ll immediately feel at home in Vainglory. After a thorough tutorial, you’ll be immediately thrown into various 3v3 player matches in either casual or ranked playlists. Gold buys you items and levelling up increases your abilities while unlocking fresh characters which you can use in future battles. With full multitouch support, it allows for fast movements within the battlefield, sometimes eclipsing what is possible on PC equivalents.
