If you felt the Earth resound this afternoon, it was probably Twitter exploding.
The rumour doing the rounds on Twitter today was that J.J. Abrams of Lost aka No Seriously, What Was With That Polar Bear? and Star Trek fame would be directing the new Disney-produced Star Wars (it’s number seven, for those of you who stopped counting after Jar Jar. Don’t cry, kids – there’s always the Holiday Special…I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
Twitter’s reaction to the news was immediate and showed, once again, that 140 characters and 10 seconds on your mobile is enough to convey a wealth of sarcasm.
Abrams’ some-say-excessive-others-say-oh-god-my-eyes-they’re-burning lens flare use in the Star Trek movies has spawned a variety of comments and yes, you guessed it, its own hashtag (#lensflare).
There’s Jedi PR’s:
Death Star PR’s:
My personal favourite, Razzle Dangerously’s:
This guy’s:
And then there was just the general ripping on Abrams and Star Wars jokes:
Jason O’Mara’s:
And, why can’t we just be friends?
Until next Friday, so as not to force the issue, enough jaba before you’re all lost – let the pun war begin.
