New Android device allows unofficial backup of Nintendo Amiibo figurines

Amiiqo has announced a new Android device which allows Nintendo fans to unofficially back up all their favourite Amiibo toys.

The device connects to your Android smartphone via NFC and allows the user to backup any Amiibos stored on it. This all sounds well and good, allowing owners to quickly access all of their stored data from a single location.

However, this isn’t all that the Amiiqo is capable of. You can also use the device to download figure data from the internet, something which is definitely illegal and will probably upset Nintendo a good amount. It essentially means that users no longer need to bother buying Amiibo toys anymore, as they can just use this device to unlock all the goodies without needing to use the figurines.

The device is available to pre-order at £49.75, which is around the cost of five Amiibo toys. The developer has also stated that it plans to release a USB to NFC reader/writer, so people without NFC-capable smartphones can also enjoy the benefits.

Grab the popcorn because it will be interesting to see how Nintendo responds to this one…
