BBM for Android and iOS downloaded over 10 million times in 24 hours

It may not have launched on the exact day it wanted to, but BBM is off to a roaring start, topping over 10 million downloads within its first 24 hours of operation on the Android and Apple app stores. Whilst the download numbers may seem impressive, just because someone has downloaded the app doesn’t mean that they can use it straight away, with many users finding themselves on the never ending waiting list, still awaiting their activation email from BlackBerry to use the service.

BBM for Android and iOS is free, but it is missing some of the features that BlackBerry users have enjoyed over the years — including BBM Voice, BBM Video and Channels support. BlackBerry has promised that these features are on the roadmap though, and that the app will be updated constantly to add more enticing features.
