The Eco charger will hit the stores from the 3rd March and retail for £22.99.
According to the high street and online retailer, about 95% of the energy used by a phone charger is lost because they’re left plugged in and switched on while not in use.
The Eco shuts itself off as soon as the phone is charged, or the phone is disconnected, meaning the standby drain is the lowest of all eco-friendly chargers (based on an independent test by Kondor).
It operates just like any ordinary phone charger, but has a switch on the front that is pushed to turn on the Eco. When on, it also glows blue.
At launch, the Eco will be available for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung handsets. The Carphone Warehouse will also give a £10 discount when the Eco is purchased with a handset.
